Lots of Jammies

This is the best shot I got, because shortly after this photo was taken, The Frog removed his arm from supporting Peach and she toppled over.
The Frog had a nasty toe stubbing incident and this is the first time he actually kept on any bandaid we tried to apply.
My kids' diapers.
The little chick-a-dee. Who knows why an infant would need a pocket on her pjs. It's sure darn cute though.

Kid Conversation

me: (to The Frog) What do you want to be for Halloween? A monkey or...
The Frog: (a little upset) I not a monkey! I just a boy!
me: No, for Halloween, we get to pretend to be something else. Do you want to be Curious George or Dennis the Menace?
The Frog: I not a menace anymore.

Harvest Festival

We went to the Harvest Festival at Thanksgiving Point. I thought it would be fun for The Frog, since there was a giant pumpkin growing contest. (Who knew there was a Giant Pumpkin Growers Association of Utah?!) Turns out it was mostly local vendors selling produce and handmade goods, but there was a blow-up castle for jumping in, so while I perused the goods, The Frog got to jump around with Jay.

I bought a headband for Peach, so she'd be able to wear the many clip-on bows I made and flowers my neighbor made. This was the smallest and thinnest one I could find there. Be honest, does anyone else think it too closely resembles a sweatband?

Can't Tell What That Is

Most of these pictures require no explanation. They just showcase the cuteness of my family.

The Frog wanted to "take a nap with her," as he said.

I think this video really shows me the way I speak to The Frog. Instead of a simple "I don't know" we get a "I can't tell what that is" or instead of "yes" we get "I think so".

The Frog Learns about Video Cameras

One awesome feature about my new phone is that it has a normal camera on the back of the phone, like most, but it also has one facing you (to allow for video chatting). This means you can also take a picture or a video of yourself and see what it looks like.

The Frog's 2nd Birthday Videos

One of the many benefits of my new phone is that it takes video! Hopefully this means I'll be sharing more videos now. Here's some from The Frog's birthday celebrations I've been meaning to put up.

Nothing exciting

The Frog loves to show his sister his toys.
Love all the wrinkles...
and squishiness.

Amazing Healing Baby

Even though I risk exposing my negligence as a parent, I'm going to show you this in the name of science.
Because it's amazing!

Look at this horrid scratch Peach gave herself. (I hate trimming baby nails. It's so terrifying!)

And then look at this picture I took of us the very next day.

It's basically gone! Babies heal sooo fast!! (good thing too... she's already had a few "incidents" thanks to her loving big brother. one of which involves a toy hammer and her face...)

Dinosaur Museum

When Jay's mom (Nanie) was in town for Peach's birth, she took The Frog to the Dinosaur Museum and Thanksgiving point. He absolutely loved it and talked about it every day and said he wanted to go again, so we decided to take him again as part of his birthday present. Here he is patiently waiting for us to get everything together to leave... in Peach's bouncer.
Peach was ever patient and looked like this for the first half of our visit.

The Frog wasn't so sure he wanted to go in there and finally opted out.
I'm pretty sure all The Frog was thinking here was "Hold those?"
Of course The Frog loved digging around for dinosaurs in the sand, though once he found a few, he mostly just played with them, sans sand.
Peach conveniently woke up right when we got to the sand and water area, so I got to nurse her comfortably on a bench while The Frog played. This is what she looked like for the rest of our visit.
This picture is so funny because I wanted to get a shot of The Frog looking at one of the skeletons, but I was too late. I had Jay pick him up to take him back so I could get the picture and it looks like he's pointing right at the dinosaur, but he's really crying and saying "Go over there!!" pointing to the next area.
We got to see these fish being fed goldfish.
The Frog loves to watch Finding Nemo and as a result, he loves sharks!
It may look like The Frog uncovered a major discovery, but actually, he spent most of his time walking around, a brush in each hand, looking at what other kids had uncovered. :)
And another shot of Peach, because she's so cute.

Happy 2nd Birthday Frog!!

Despite his recklessness, and to my relief, The Frog has made it to his second birthday!! I think we can all appreciate the awesomeness of the number 2... it has many great qualities, but I think my favorite is that it is the only even prime number. Yay for being 2!!

The Frog adamantly requested pizza for his birthday dinner and not shown here is his smiley face pancake breakfast (I forgot to take pics). Honestly, the smiley face looked a bit more angry than I would have liked, so I'll probably try again soon to redeem myself and I'll take a picture then :)

Even though The Frog was sooo good at blowing out MY birthday candles (we had to relight them several times), it took him many tries to get his out. Very cute.

When I asked him what kind of cake he wanted, he said "white". I offered sprinkles and he of course accepted. And when I was listing off the ice cream choices at the grocery store, he went with brownie. In the end, I think he liked the candles more than the cake - in the words of The Frog, "funny guy..."

We decided that this year we would spread out his present opening, because really, a kid can only play with one thing at a time, and I think it was a good strategy while he's still so young. I think his favorite was the Home Depot tool bucket. Finally, a screw driver that doesn't terrify me to see him running with!

It's so amazing how he has grown in the last year! It's amazing to me that when we took this picture, he didn't even say one word, and now he regularly speaks in sentences! We love you little guy!

n^nth Birthday!

After being such a boring age (26) I am proud to announce that I have moved on to a more interesting age. 27! Not only is it a cube, which will most likely only happen once more in my life, but 27 is also an n^n, where n=3. I know I will never be one of those again.

Jay was extra good to me this year for my birthday- made a cake and dinner and as if that wasn't enough, he gave me 4 birthday present options that he and The Frog thought of (haha) and allowed me to pick 2 of them- one from Jay, one from The Frog. It was really hard to decide- all of them being rather large and things I really want/need, but I decided to go with upgrading to the new iPhone 4 and getting a Scooba (a nice accompaniment to our Roomba). The Scooba is in the mail and Jay made the drive to Salt Lake on Saturday so I could get my new phone before my birthday. I LOVE my new phone- it is soooo much faster than my old one, I can't even believe it. It also feels good that we were able to sell my old 3G today for more than half the cost of the new one :)
This is a picture of me still getting in position to blow out my candles, a bit too late... when The Frog sees lit candles, he knows what to do :)

And in case you were wondering about the weird candles on my cake, Jay thought he would be clever and put candles in ternary (base 3) because it has a cute representation for 27 (0001).

Sleeping Faces

I just love watching new born babies while they sleep. They have the funniest facial expressions! I wonder if they are at all related to their dreams, though I suspect not. What could a baby so young even dream about? They are most familiar with darkness right? Are most of their dreams about being in the womb? I wonder... anyway, I have to include some pictures of her funny faces.

And finally, she wakes up!

Adjusting

I've been really grateful at how seamlessly we all have been able to adjust to the new addition, especially The Frog. He often tells me that he loves her (which he never says about Jay or me) and is constantly asking about where she is, what she's doing, and wanting to hold her. Despite The Frog's great intentions, he still doesn't recognize his own strength and we have to constantly remind him to be gentle.
Thank goodness for Jay's mom coming into town (I had pictures of her holding Peach, but I did something unexplainable when I was labeling them in my computer and I don't know where they went :( ) for a week to help out with giving The Frog lots of extra attention and making delicious food for every meal and even extras for the freezer. She was one of the biggest reasons for the easier transition- the biggest reason probably being that Peach is really easy-going.
Even though I feel like I have finally mastered the art of "the swaddle", Peach proves to be a little escape artist and almost always has one of her hands by her face when she wakes up. She also often looks very posed when she sleeps. She's slowly earning the nick name of "sleeping beauty".
The Frog had a little spill while running (he mostly runs these days) through the living room and tripped- smacking his ear on the coffee table on his way down. I've never seen a bruise on an ear before! I've only heard him complain about the pain once- such a trooper.
We got The Frog a baby doll a long time ago because he seemed fascinated by babies and always wanted to get a good look at them when we saw one. He has now named it after his little sister.
The Frog absolutely loves to "hold her! hold her!", as he would say. He must hold her several times a day and loves it when she looks at him. "Eyes open! Lookin' at me!" he says. I love that he laughs every time she sneezes or pokes him in the face.
