My Birthday/Anniversary

Since we have 3 birthdays so close together, I'm trying to find ways to minimize the amount of cake our small family has to consume.  This year, I thought I'd make myself a mini cake and freeze the rest of the batter, but then when I baked it, (I admit, I used a box...) I was able to fit all the batter into 2 6-inch rounds, no problem.  So, instead I got a tall skinny cake :)  Oh well.

and don't count the candles.  I think the number is meaningless.  It's hard getting the kids to cooperate to rules. :)

Also, this was a special anniversary year, since we had our 5th anniversary on the 5th of September AND it even occurred on the same day of the week as our actual marriage!  I think that's pretty cool. :)  (I need to remember to get a picture of US on our anniversary.  doh!)

I thought I was being amazing and generous by giving up some space in MY craft room so Jay could move his weight bench inside from the garage.  But, as usual, I was outdone in thoughtfulness and generosity.

He happened to remember one time, long ago, when I mentioned that I would eventually like to get a pearl necklace like the one I borrowed for our wedding.

Apparently, that is very hard to find, especially like these because they are so old and now, the sign of exquisite in pearls is a single strand, of large, uniform ones. That is so funny to me because one of the things I loved most about this necklace was the texture and variety.  It makes them feel more "real" and naturally occurring.

Jay says he went to every jeweler in the area (which is hard to pull off, since we only have 1 car, and I usually have it) during the last few months and finally found something even remotely similar:

It's so fun (and scary) having a real necklace.  He spoils me :)

I would like to mention that it was wrapped.  I think I gave Jay a really hard time about never wrapping gifts for me- they're usually still in the plastic sack.  For me, being cutely wrapped up is a big part of the fun!  So he dug around in my wrapping stuff and put them in a bag, but he  couldn't find where I put the tissue paper (and now that he mentions it, a drawer under my sewing table isn't exactly the most obvious place...) so he used regular tissues instead.  Love that man!

I felt like such a spectacle opening pearls over dinner.  (though I'm sure nobody was watching)  We decided to go get Japanese- we haven't had it much since Iris left.  I felt lots of stares being pregnant in a place that serves a lot of sushi, which preggos can't have...  The food was delish though!  We went to Shoga.

I can't believe all that's happened over the past 5 years (especially the 2 7/9 kids.  seriously?) but I can't imagine it all playing out without Jay and his support.  I can't wait to see what the next 5 brings!

Now I'm Perfect!

Happy Birthday to me!  It was pretty cool being a cube, but this year I get to be perfect!!  Note the factors of 28: 1*28, 2*14, 4*7.  Note their sum (w/out 28, obviously...) 1+2+14+4+7 = 28!!  Cool huh?  That is called a perfect number and that is why I am looking forward to my perfect year :)

It started off with a perfect day too:

 Jay squirms at the thought of crumbs breakfast in bed, so he snuck in (because he let me sleep in) and left this tray for me on a "table" (diaper box) in front of my nursing rocking chair.  I never thought I would ever get breakfast in bed, because of his aversions to it and so this was a most excellent, stupendous, happy surprise!

He also outdid himself and made lunch (frozen pizza) and dinner (spaghetti and meatballs).  It was so nice to not cook for a whole day!  I can't even remember the last time...

AND he made this cake for me at my request.  It was sooo good.  It was more like a brownie cake with ooey gooey frosting.  mmmm.  And it was malty.  I highly recommend it!

 I insisted on lighting all 28 of them.

 I insisted on a pretend blowing out picture because it would take way too long to relight them.

 Peach insisted on rubbing the delicious cake all over her body.

 I insisted she have a bath in the sink.

Now, before all you ladies get jealous and down on your men for not being as spoiling as mine, I'd just like to remind you that this it was not only my birthday, but our anniversary.  So for my first birthday/anniversary gift I got these babies:

Then he said he would dedicate some of his monthly "fun money" to getting me 3 hours of cleaning service every month- for all those little things I just can't get to.  He must know how I'm a perfectionist and dusty moulding and fingerprinted kitchen cabinets really stress me out...

And THEN after the kids were in bed, we went shopping for a birthday outfit (which, I sadly couldn't find anything I liked.  How weird is that?) and as we left Down East Outfitters I asked where we should try next and he said.  "Sorry, we're out of time.  We have to be somewhere now."

And he took me to see these guys:

They're called 1964 the Tribute.  Meaning they are Beatles impersonators and they were AWESOME.  Seriously!  Without my glasses on, they totally sounded, acted and looked just like (my all-time favorite band) The Beatles.  They also happened to play a lesser known Beatles song that just happened to be the song Jay and I danced our first dance as a married couple to- "Til There Was You".  Couldn't have planned it better, eh?

 It was sprinkling a bit at the beginning of the concert, so we had to cuddle under the tarp we were sitting on.  Darn.

Basically, I can tell this is going to be a perfect year!

4 Years ago...

I got these delivered to the house today because it's the 4 year anniversary of when Jay proposed.My man's the best!! :)

Historical Week

I should have posted several times already this week, as it is a very important week in the lives of Jay and Libby.  Why? 

Monday- Labor Day

  I always maintain a corner in my heart for Labor Day.  Not only because I've never had to "work" (i.e. go to school) on this day, and the weather is usually just how I want it, but also because I appropriately decided to put my mother in labor on Labor Day, 25 years ago.  However, my birthday only falls on Labor Day once every 11 years.  Since my birthday anniversary now coincides with my marital one, I may just adopt Labor Day as my new birthday...

September 2 (Tuesday)

  This year, this day is the two year "re-birthday" for Jay- his baptism.  He looks so young no?  (and we won't say what I look like...)

September 3rd-

  You might have guessed, but this is the day of Jay's confirmation, and I happen to have a picture of him right after church, lookin' all cute and suited up.

September 4th-

   Last year, today, was the day that we both got to go through the temple (Salt Lake) for the first time.  I'm sad to say that I have no pictures of the occasion- probably because we were feeling a bit rushed to get home and make the final preparations for...

September 5th-

  The day we got married!!  Tomorrow will be our 1-year anniversary and I can honestly say it's been the best year yet!
