Family Photos at Vassar!

I have so much I could say right now and a lot of catch up, but this blog has been photoless for too long, and I'm excited about how well our photo shoot went today, so I'm just going to put up some of my favorites.  We thought it would be fun to utilize all the cool old buildings at Vassar, so that's where we are!

Unfortunately, the family pics weren't great... we'll probably have to do them again (the downfall of using self-timer...) but I got some really fun shots of the kids!  One of our family shots would have been ok if the lens were just clean!! argh!!  You'll know which photo that is when you see it...

These are all without editing, except for the second family photo whose colors were completely washed out.

Peach's Petticoat

Does anyone else get Zulily emails?  For the most part, I just assume most things are going to be out of my price range, despite the steep discounts, but finally something caught my eye.

I've been meaning to make Peach a petticoat ever since I saw a tutorial on it (was it makeit-loveit.com?) but never got around to it because you need SO much fabric that it's quite expensive, even to make yourself, not to mention a bit tedious and time intensive...  As much as I'd like to think it's not true, I'm very motivated by instant gratification.

This infant "pettiskirt" (as Adorabelle calls it) was half off and when I calculated the cost of making it myself, it was about the same (except, let's face it, free time is VERY valuable and hard to come by these days) so I went for it.

I think this is the first time I've blatantly played dress-up with my life-size paper-doll.  I'll be the first to admit, it probably won't be the last time.

(Doesn't Peach look like she's winking? :D) I also justified that it would be a fun Easter basket addition but let's face it, I was so excited to have Peach try it on when it came in the mail, it practically flew out of the package and onto her little onesied waist.  It couldn't wait that long!

Fall Day Play

It's been quite gloomy lately, which means optimal photography weather :) I can't believe how vibrant some of these colors look- they're all from my back yard!

I love how bright the green ball looks.


The Frog was "helping" me sort through the apples under our apple tree and he decided to keep one for himself.

In The Dark

The Frog really loves playing with a flashlight and I had a "brilliant" idea to try to get some "awesome" pictures of it. Turns out they were all pretty undistinguishable, but these two are my favorites. Can you tell what they are?

First Fall Leaves!

"We" (ie Jay) raked leaves together today and The Frog seemed to really enjoy himself. If the leaves weren't so wet, I would have encouraged a bit more pile play, but what he doesn't know about, he doesn't miss out on, no?

I apologize for so many photos. I'm still having fun with iPhoto effects :)

Howdya like THEM apples?

If Newton sat under our apple tree, he would get a big headache because our apples are dropping in droves now! Every day after work, Jay brings in a basket full, and we start calling our neighbors to see if anyone wants some.

I did a bit of a photo shoot, trying to get a good pic for Christmas card, and decided to play around with the effects in iPhoto. I'm very impressed with all you can do! I think my plain old shots actually look, pretty decent! Check 'em out.

Super-Awesome Photography

I'm in Utah for a couple of days while Jay is interviewing for a faculty position, which just happened to be the same week as my mom's birthday! So it worked out really nicely. What this means is that I'm missing school- which conveniently frees up more of my time for getting caught up on all my blogs ;)

I found out about this photography project (which is now being exhibited at the Mesa Arizona Temple Visitors' Center ) called "Reflections of Christ" where the photographer tried to depict scenes of Christ's life through modern photography. I read about it here if you're interested in hearing a more detailed description of the actual exhibit.

I must admit, I originally imagined something super-cheesey and a bit hokey, but I perused the photographer's blog about the production, and this video (seriously, you have to watch it) completely convinced me! I can't believe how cool the angels turned out- and I think it's so neat that he made them jump on a trampoline in front of a green screen to get it to look this way. I'm really curious about the rest of the photos now...

Luckily, I'm from "zion"- so hopefully this exhibit will get to debut here sometime in the future while I'm around. :)
