First Snow!

Can you believe the warm-weather leaf jumping was just two days before this?

The Frog made this huge snowball completely by himself while I was inside nursing Hazel.

He loves throwing snowballs but it's completely nerve-racking  because they never fly predictably.  Guess this might be a good time to teach him how to throw properly.

Peach finally woke up but didn't know what to think.  It's hard for her to walk and she prefers holding your hand.  (which is great because she will never usually hold my hand)
The Frog's giant snowball was begging to be turned into  a snowman, and he thought there needed to be one for each kid.

It continued to snow all night long...
poor broccoli...
Once Peach discovered how tasty snow is, that's pretty much all she does outside now.  I caught her eating snow from a car bumper in the church parking lot yesterday.  Bleh!
Once the driveway was shoveled, Jay took the kids for "sleigh rides".

Notice Peach is still eating snow...
We really should get a sled... poor Jay- running in deep snow with all the gear is exhausting!
The Frog thought it didn't look too hard.  Peach- still eating snow...

Old pics

I just realized I put these photos on my desktop a long time ago, waiting to put them up here. They're pretty old- from before Christmas! It was snowing and we had excellent snowman making snow, so I had to teach The Frog how it's done :)

First Snow!!

I woke up this morning to this:Good thing I just finished making this:

Now that I've made one from a pattern, I have a lot of ideas of how I'd like to change it to make it better. Hopefully I can get another one done before I'll be wanting to wear one every day :)

Personal Log, Day 4

Our furnace is still not working and temperatures continue to drop in the main parts of our lodgings. The kitchen reads at 53 degrees Fahrenheit. We have retreated to the sleeping quarters and only venture out when food is required.

The high today is to be 19 degrees outside.

Though Christmas was a bit unusual, we all made out like bandits, especially me. Luckily, the captain had a genius idea and decided that we should order Indian food, to save me from slaving away over a hot stove (though it doesn't sound so bad now...) which has saved us from spending much more time in the more frozen parts of our lodgings than needed to microwave our rations. We have much to be grateful for and this will be all over Monday morning when the needed part arrives to fix the furnace.

Until then, puffy vests, slippers and blankets will continue to be a staple in our wardrobes.

Snow!

Nothing very interesting happened this week.

I did get these two kinda cute shots of The Frog while experimenting with bad lighting. I've decided that to take good pictures, lighting is everything- I just wish I understood it better.

Anyway, we DID get snow yesterday and today! It was the first time The Frog got to try out his new snow pants (I've been dying to get him to try them on). The first day, he kept falling over and not being able to get back up, but today he was a natural, and the snow was even coming down really hard! I wonder what he thinks of all this!
Day 1: Mom, why are you making me wear all this stuff?! I can't find my thumb to suck on it!
This snow stuff tastes weird.
Day 2: I wish I had my gloves this time!
I love that you can see the individual bits of snow in his hair.

This picture turned out a lot cooler than I was expecting.
