crust and all,
from scratch,
until now.
Doesn't it look scrumptious?!
It was fun to do, though remind me next time to buy a cherry-pitter. Pitting all those with a chopstick was not exactly my new favorite hobby, and my dyed fingernail-beds feel the same way.

wow. you went all out with the crust on top. I think I've made a criss-cross crust like twice. I'm lazy. And I've made pie countless times!
I know it SEEMS like a cherry pitter is critical, but I've bought THREE and none are worth the trouble. More than half the time the pit is still in that sucker. I wish someone would invent a real pitter!!
I've got one from Sir la Table and it works very well. It helps to orient the cherry before pitting. I'd guess less than 5% fail rate.
